Stupid Week

The last week has been, well, a lesson in humility.  I've been petitioning Russ for a while now for a one-storied house because (1) Garrett is going to need to move to his own room eventually (I'm in no hurry) and I don't want him to be on a different floor than me and (2) I'm very accident-prone increasing the odds that I will fall down the stairs with baby.  Did I mention the stairs are wooden and quite slippery? No? Well they are.  So, lessons learned this week:
(1) When using a rotary cutter, mind your fingertips. Particularly when said rotary cutter is new and quite sharp and capable of cutting through your fingernail and much of the fleshy part beneath like butter.
(2) When removing things from the oven, do not touch the oven racks with your bare hand. This is a no-brainer; what does that say about me?
(3) When zealously vacuuming under the couch, do not lean over so that your hair is near the vacuum because that vacuum may very well suck it up and you may not be near a pair of scissors to cut it out and you may have one of those "I've fallen and I can't get up" moments because neither the 5-month-old nor the dog are able to understand your commands, much less bring you a pair of scissors, and you may get quite the headache from this series of events. An up-do goes a long way.

yikes

And also, I am going to be an aunt again! To a NIECE?! I love nieces!!!
